The return of the Mack is here.
Yes, really. The Beavers announced Wednesday that forward Ellie Mack will return to Oregon State for the 2021-22 women’s basketball season.
Mack completed her senior year this spring, but due to the NCAA’s additional year of eligibility granted due to the impact of COVID-19, she will remain with the Beavers squad in hopes of winning a national championship next season.
After transferring from Bucknell, Mack was a starter in every game for Oregon State last season. The forward posted averages of 6.8 points while shooting 41 percent from the floor and 37 percent three-point range. Mack also added 3.7 rebounds for the Beavers and scored in double figures on five occasions during the 2020-21 season.
Mack will rejoin a frontcourt that includes All-Pac-12 selection Taylor Jones, three-year starter Taya Corosdale, McDonald's All-American Kennedy Brown and redshirt freshman Jelena Mitrovic who scored a season-high 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting vs. Oregon on Dec. 13.
Senior guard Aleah Goodman declined to take her additional season of college eligibility and will not be suiting up for the Beavers next season. Sasha Goforth announced she will transfer to Arkansas.
With Mack back in the fold next season, Oregon State will return many of its mainstays in the lineup that took them to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and resulted in a 59-42 loss to No. 1 South Carolina.
