Beavers Warith Alatishe declares for the NBA Draft

Oregon State Beavers own Warith Alatishe Is planning to submit his name for an early entry for the 2021 NBA draft.

But according to NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony, he is expected to return to school and play for the Beavers next season.

Alatishe, A 6-foot-7 forward junior, was one of three players to start in all 33 games for the Beavers last season.

On Wednesday, Beavers head coach Wayne Tinkle spoke about how Alatishe was going through the early entry process to get feedback on his skills and where he would land.

He’s hopeful that a year from now, he’s going to get that experience, and so why not get a little bit of a dress rehearsal. He’s obviously fully committed to coming back. He knows he’s got to make some progress, but that’ll be a neat, neat deal for him to go through. He’ll get some more feedback to feed off what we’re telling him to work on.

This season, Alatishe led the Beavers in rebounds and and blocked shots. He had nine double-doubles with season highs against UCLA with 22 points and 16 rebounds against Oregon.

Alatishe is expected to come back, but if NBA scouts give him a good report, he might make his way to the NBA Draft.
