After a thrilling comeback victory over Dallas Baptist on Sunday night, Oregon State isn’t finished yet.
The Beavers survived another gritty, come-from-behind game Sunday as Garret Forrester had a walk-off solo home run in the top of the ninth to give the Beavers a 5-4 win and stave off elimination. Now a deciding Game 7 awaits.
“My teammates are amazing,” Forrester said post-game. “Love this family and all the boys. I was getting mobbed; I got my jersey ripped off. I was afraid they were gonna grab me by the neck and pull me down. Just super high emotions. Heart racing the whole time. It was awesome.”
Oregon State has had its work cut out for them since the beginning. The Beavers fell 6-5 to Dallas Baptist in their postseason opener before toppling No. 6 TCU 3-2. Less than two hours later, Oregon State avenged its opening round loss to Dallas Baptist following Forrester’s homer.
The Beavers need just one more win at Lupton Field in Fort Worth, Texas to take the regional.
“That was an incredible day of baseball,” Oregon State baseball coach Mitch Canham added. “The way these guys take care of each other and love each other, they want to do anything possible to get the job done. I’m just in awe of how special these young men are.”
For the third time in four days, Oregon State and Dallas Baptist will meet for the right to advance to the Super Regional. It will be a winner-take-all-matchup at 1:00 p.m. on Monday with the winner advancing to play either Old Dominion or Virginia at a to be determined neutral site.
