This will be the first time since 1982 that Oregon State is dancing in the Sweet 16. Beavers coach Wayne Tinkle had a lot of praise for his team after Sunday’s finish in the round of 32.

"Just super proud of the group," said head coach Wayne Tinkle. "This has been an unbelievable ride we're on."

Unbelievable is right. Tinkle shared after the game that not only did he grow up in Chicago, he spent a lot of time there as his father was Vice President Dean of Students at where? Loyola-Chicago of course.

“He had two offices, one in the North Shore, one downtown at the Water Tower Place, some of my most fond memories were in the summer, going to his office at the Water Tower Place and he would have to do some work,” Tinkle explained. “He’d have people just kind of keep me out of trouble. I’d go up to the little gym, shoot some hoops and then we’d go to the Cubs games in the afternoon. I remember stories about George Ireland. I remember going to see him play when I was five or six years old.

“Coach Moser has done a hell of a job and they’re a great team, but this is really gonna mean something extra special for me and my family.”

The showdown between Oregon State and Loyola-Chicago is so sweet we can almost taste it. Tip-off for Saturday’s game is set for 11:40 a.m. PT on CBS.
