In the words of Oregon State head football coach Jonathan Smith… “DAM RIGHT.”
On Tuesday, the Beavers landed South Carolina transfer running back Deshaun Fenwick.
“Excited to announced my commitment to Oregon State University #BuildTheDam #GoBeavs,” said Fenwick in his post on Instagram.
Fenwick has three years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
The 6’1”, 220-pound Bradenton, Florida-native began his college career at South Carolina University. In 2018, Fenwick saw action in two contests and recorded 21 carries for 115 yards averaging 6.6 yards per carry. In 2019, he recorded 22 carries for 111 yards in five games.
This past shortened season, Fenwick saw action in eight games totaling 297 yards on 54 carries and one touchdown.
Now, Fenwick joins a Beavers backfield that needs to replace the AP Pac-12 Co-Offensive Player of the Year in junior Jermar Jefferson, who has declared for the 2021 NFL Draft. Redshirt-juniors B.J. Baylor and Calvin Tyler Jr. will carry a majority of the load in 2021 along with Damir Collins, but with the addition of Fenwick, this competition should be interesting to watch in spring ball and fall camp.
Last season, Oregon State ranked fourth in the Pac-12 conference in rushing yards per game with 197.6 and totaled 15 touchdowns in a seven-game season.
