The Oregon State Beavers (2-3, 0-2) suffered its worst loss of the season, by far, falling 87-86 to the University of Portland (4-1) at Gill Coliseum Thursday evening.
Ahmed Ali hit a three-pointer with 14 seconds left in overtime to take a four-point lead over the Beavers, causing an Oregon State timeout.
Ethan Thompson would hit a three-pointer with a second remaining to make the score a one-point loss. He finished the game with 31 points on 9-17 from the field. Thompson added ten points from the free-throw line.
It's the first Pilots victory over a P5 opponent since the 2016-17 season when Portland coincidentally defeated Oregon State 53-45.

Maurice Calloo and Jarod Lucas joined Thompson in double figures with 18 points and 14 points respectively.
For Portland, three different players scored double figures: Ahmed Ali with 26 points, Eddie Davis with 22 points and Isiah Dasher with 18 points.
Portland led the game 36-29 at halftime however Oregon State led 60-52 with 6:31 remaining in the second half after a pair of Thompson free throws. Portland closed the half on a 19-11 run and missed two jumpers with under five seconds left that would have won the game.
