Two turnovers on final two possession plague Oregon State MBB in loss to Wyoming

It’s not how you start a game but how you finish and the Oregon State men’s basketball team didn’t do that on Sunday against visiting Wyoming.

With 1:13 left on the clock and the Beavers ahead by three, senior Zach Reichle couldn’t get the ball to senior Ethan Thompson - who had the hot hand on Sunday - and threw a turnover on a sidelines out-of-bounds play. The Cowboys scored on their next possession.

Then Thompson tried to dribble penetrate into the lane but spun right into a Wyoming defender for a steal and fast-break lay-in on the other end.

Now, the Beavs found themselves in a 75-72 hole with under 20 seconds to go.

Wyoming fouled Thompson to send him to the line for two shots where he made 1-of-2. Oregon State got the rebound but failed to get the put-back.

Oregon State, down by three, had a good look from the top of the key from Warith Alatishe, but the ball bounced off the rim as time expired.

The Beavers (2-2, 0-1 Pac-12) fall in back-to-back losses, this one 76-73 to the Wyoming Cowboys on Sunday.

Next up for the Beavs is hosting the Portland Pilots on Thursday, December 10
