No. 13 Oregon (12-5, 9-5 Pac-12) was named the No. 11 true seed of the NCAA selection committee’s initial top-16 seeds. The Ducks are currently the No. 3 seed in Region 4 along with Louisville and Texas A&M.

At the time of the unveiling, the Ducks were the fourth highest-rated Pac-12 team. Stanford received a No. 1 seed; Arizona is a two-seed and UCLA also received a three-seed along with Oregon.

Last season, the Ducks won the Pac-12 Tournament and Oregon’s big three of Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally and Ruthy Hebard were expected to lead the No. 1 seeded Ducks into March Madness, but the coronavirus pandemic shuttered the sports world, and the tournament was cancelled. In 2019, the Ducks were the No. 2 seed in the Portland Regional when they appeared in the program’s first-ever Final Four.

The NCAA Women’s Tournament is expected to be held in the San Antonio area from March 21 through April 4.

Ducks can't lose sight on what's ahead

With just three games remaining on Oregon’s regular-season schedule, the Ducks have a lot of soul searching to do. In Monday’s game against the Cardinal, Oregon came up short in another down-to-the-wire finish, falling 63-61. In recent weeks, Oregon has had two losses to the No. 6 Cardinal, two to No. 10 Arizona and another one to No. 8 UCLA.

Next up, the No. 13 Ducks face off against the No. 8 Bruins again on Friday, Feb. 19 at 5:00 p.m.
