Four members of the Portland Thorns are headed East.
Forward Crystal Dunn, midfielder Lindsey Horan, defender Becky Sauerbrunn and forward Sophia Smith were named by U.S. Soccer to the 27-player roster for its January national team camp.
Dunn, who has 24 goals in 105 appearances for the USWNT, was recently nominated for U.S. Soccer Player of the Year in 2020. She played every minute during her six starts during the United States’ run in the 2019 World Cup.
Horan was also nominated for Female Player of the Year and has 86 total appearances and 19 goals. In the 2019 World Cup, Horan scored two goals and added two assists in six games.
Sauerbrunn has been a mainstay for the defense, making 178 total appearances. She is one of 22 USWNT players to pass the 15-cap mark and was second on the national team in minutes during 2019 with 1,785.
Smith will rejoin the training camp roster after her first senior cap on Nov. 27 vs. the Netherlands. The first-overall pick in the NWSL draft is the youngest player on the roster and first player born in the 2000s to appear on the USWNT.
The camp will take place in Orlando, Florida from Jan. 9 to Jan. 22, and will include friendlies against Columbia on Jan. 18 and Jan. 22.
