The Portland Thorns FC 2020 fall season is going to have to wait a few more days.

Portland was slated to kick-off its NWSL fall campaign this Saturday in a rivalry match-up against OL Reign at Providence Park.

However, the match has been postponed due to poor air quality in the Portland area following the recent wildfires burning throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, the National Women’s Soccer League announced Thursday.

The Thorns-Reign match is now scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Providence Park.

The match was originally slated to broadcast locally on KOIN 6.

The Sept. 15 match will now be streamed on Twitch.

Portland has four fall NWSL matches scheduled to date:

  • Thorns FC hosts OL Reign on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:00 pm
  • Thorns FC hosts Utah Royals FC on Sept. 20 at 12:00pm
  • Thorns FC at Utah Royals FC on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:00pm
  • Thorns FC at OL Reign on  Saturday, Oct. 10 at 5:00pm

Wednesday evening, the Portland Timbers 2 completed its game at Providence Park before the air quality in downtown Portland became an even bigger concern. The T2 squad defeated Sounders FC 2, 3-0.
