Thorns head coach Mark Parsons to leave after the end of the season

The Thorns will be having to look for a new head coach for the next season.

On Wednesday, The Athletic’s Meg Lineman reported that the Portland Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons will leave the team after the 2021 season.

Parsons will be taking over as the head coach of the Netherlands women’s national team.

Nothing has been officially signed by Parsons yet, but the players were told Wednesday morning of the news.

Parsons has led the Thorns to one NWSL championship, NWSL shield, four consecutive playoff appearances and two berths in the NWSL championship game.

Most recently, the Thorns took down NJ/NY Gotham to win the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup.
