The Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns announced Tuesday a multi-year partnership with TikTok, a short-form mobile video app, which includes sponsorship, media, promotional, community initiatives and content assets across both teams. TikTok's logo will also be featured as the official jersey sleeve partner for the Timbers and Thorns FC in 2021.
If you're unfamiliar with TikTok-- well, there's just no way.
“TikTok is one of the world’s leading content and entertainment platforms and we are thrilled to be partnering with such a dynamic global brand,” Mike Golub, Timbers and Thorns FC president of business said in a release. “The partnership is groundbreaking to have equal TikTok representation on both Timbers and Thorns jersey sleeves, and it will give us a unique ability to create and distribute content in collaboration with TikTok. We are very proud that TikTok chose our clubs as two of their first team sponsorship deals in the US.”
The Timbers and Thorns Stand Together initiative and TikTok have also collaborated to launch a TikTok For Good campaign with a portion of the proceeds from each jersey sold going to a local non-profit. As part of the campaign, the club will also release four unique scarves throughout the year to celebrate TikTok For Good. Each scarf will have a local beneficiary, and a portion of the sale of the scarf will be donated to the non-profit. The first scarf in the series will benefit the Urban League of Portland.
