Timbers: Club América supporters ignite fireworks from the stands

Say what you will about the opposing supporters' section at Providence Park, the opposing fans always create a dynamic atmosphere.

Even if the actions of Club América's supporters made it a little hard to see.

Let me explain.

The Portland Timbers hosted Club América in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Wednesday evening at Providence Park in front of a limited capacity crowd.

With Club América nursing a single-goal advantage, the club's supporters appeared to ignite fireworks from the stands in celebration as documented by Timbers writer Richard Farley and another Twiter user.

The smoke was visible on the field as demonstrated in Farley's second tweet.

The Timbers instituted a clear bag policy for the 2021 season that was in effect during the match.
