Timbers Eryk Williamson called up to USMNT for Gold Cup


The United States Men's National Team added to their roster for the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup on Thursday, calling up Portland Timbers.

According to the Timbers, Williamson will report Kansas City, Kan., training camp on July 5th. 

Williamson had made 10 appearances for Portland this season, including eight starts, scoring one goal and adding two assists. In week five, Williamson earned MLS Team of the Week honors with a two assists performance in a 2-0 victory over San Jose.  

Williamson has one cap with the U-23 USMNT and was called up to the U-23 team for training camp in March. He played for the U-20 team at the FIFA World Cup in 2017, playing in five matches.

The USMNT will kick off their Concacaf Gold Cup play on July 11th. USMNT will be in Group B, the six-time Gold Cup champions will face Martinique on July 15th,  and wrap up the group stage with a match against Canada on July 18th.

Group B's top two teams will advance to the quarterfinals, held in Arlington, Texas on July 25.
