Blazers start four-game road trip Thursday: First stop Orlando
Double-Double Machines: The Magic are now 2-2 after an impressive three-point victory over the Celtics on Monday. Four of the five Magic starters had double-doubles. Jonathan Isaac (18 pts, 12 reb), Nikola Vucevic (24 pts and 12 reb), Evan Fournier (14 pts and 10 ast) and DJ Augustin (10 pts, 10 ast). It was on March 22 of 1994, the last time Orlando had four double-doubles in one game. Aaron Gordon was the lone starter to not reach a double-double with 13 points and three rebounds.
Be on the lookout for Isaac: While many eyes will be on the #6 pick, Mo Bamba, you should also be on the lookout for Magic PF Jonathan Isaac. In Monday’s win, it was Isaac’s first double-double of his young career. His 12 boards and 18 points were both career bests. So far this season, the 21-year-old is averaging 8.5 point per game and 7.3 rebounds.
A homecoming for a Blazers rookie: On Wednesday before practice, Edge Water High School in Orlando held a ceremony to retire Anfernee Simons’ high school number. You should expect a nice cheering section for Simons on Thursday.
Last season, Portland took the season series against Orlando, 2-0, in low-scoring fashion. The Blazers beat the Magic 99-94 at home in the first meeting and then held off a late-run from the Magic in Orlando to win, 95-88. In that road game on Dec. 15th, Portland held Orlando to 38.6% shooting.
In the win, Damian Lillard had 21 points, while CJ McCollum added 20.
The Trail Blazers are not reporting any injuries for Thursday's game.
Magic center Timofey Mozgov (knee) missed his fourth consecutive game on Monday vs. Boston due to a sore right knee. He is considered day to day, according to rotoballer.com.
