Blazers vs. LeBron: Part 2
The Trail Blazer Bench: The Blazers second unit continues to impress. Portland’s bench dropped 50 points on New Orleans Thursday night at Moda Center in Portland's 132-119 win. Each night it seems to be a different guy. Evan Turner led the way against the Pelicans with 14 points. Before that, it was Zach Collins with two 17-point games during the road trip and Caleb Swanigan posting a double-double in Indy. Last time the Lakers were in town, Nik Stauskas lit them up for 24 points.
A Low-Key Circus: When LeBron and the Lakers rolled into Portland for the home opener, it was a bit of a circus with hoards of media in overflow seating. It was LeBron's first game as a Laker, on national TV and all the eyes were on the Trail Blazers and the Lakers. Now it's just Game 9 of a very long season, so how will the LeBron factor play out this time around?
Struggling Lakers: Despite coming off a Wednesday night win over the Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers are struggling. Just 3-5 on the season the new-look Lakers have not put things together quite yet. This is not unusual for a new LeBron team though. His teams in Cleveland and Miami all started slow before they figured things out, everyone will be keeping an eye on the Lakers as they look to turn the corner.
The Trail Blazers have listed Moe Harkless (left knee) as OUT for Satuday's contest.
For the Lakers, Michael Beasley (personal) is OUT.
Recapping the first game
In the first meeting between the Blazers and Lakers it was the debut of LeBron James in a Laker uniform, but Portland spoiled the party, with a 128-119 win over the Lakers.
James finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds.
In the win, Damian Lillard led all scorers with 28 points. Lillard also pulled down six rebounds and had four assists. CJ McCollum added 21 points and five rebounds and Nik Stauskas added 24 off the bench. Portland outrebounded LA, 54-46.
