Dwight Jaynes: the greatest Blazer of all time? Plus thoughts on Lillard's effort and the loss in Toronto
“You’ve got a problem…”
From Talkin' Ball - Dwight on the Blazers getting run out of the arena vs. the Raptors:
“I think Toronto is very, very good, and the Blazers really did run into a buzzsaw. I think there was false sense of security after playing the last two teams that they played, the Clippers and the Bulls- two teams that really didn’t even care about winning games.
You run into these guys who are on a mission to prove their one of the best teams in the league, then you’ve got a PROBLEM if you’re not ready to go.”
“That’s a big case in your favor…”
With Damian Lillard reaching the milestone of 10,000 points in his career as well as surpassing Jim Paxson on the Blazers all-time scoring list to reach 6th all-time-- that got Dwight thinking about whom would Dame need to surpass to be considered the greatest Trail Blazer of all-time.
“Greatest Blazer of all might’ve been the guy who played one healthy season, Bill Walton. NBA Finals MVP, first-team All-NBA, but you score all those points that’s a big case in your favor.”
“Loved the way he played tonight…”
For those of you who think Dwight never says anything nice, we give you this quote from the Godfather on Damian Lillard’s 32-point performance in Friday’s loss:
“He played very well against a couple of really good guards… He was ready tonight, probably one of the only guys who was ready for this challenge and I loved the way he played tonight.”
