Game 3: Hobbled Trail Blazers look to get back in the series
Quick look back at Game 2
The Portland Trail Blazers now head to New Orleans in an 0-2 hole after dropping Game 2 to the Pelicans, 111-102. Portland got off to a good start offensively with the apparent game plan to dish the ball down low to Jusuf Nurkic early on. Nurkic took five shots in the first five minutes of play.
Nurkic recorded 13 points after going 5-of-12 from the field on the night before leaving the game with a leg contusion early in the 3rd quarter.
Jrue Holiday scored a new postseason career-high with 33 points on 14-of-24 shooting to lead all scorers.
For the Blazers, Damian Lillard had another rough shooting night. Lillard went 7-of-18 from the floor including going 1-of-7 from deep. He finished with 17 points.
What could change in Game 3 for the Blazers?
Most likely, Maurics Harkless will get the start at small forward in place of the injured Evan Turner. In Harkless’ return from a left knee injury, he played 27 minutes off the bench, while scoring 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting on Tuesday night.
Jusuf Nurkic (leg contusion) injured his leg at the 8:30 mark in the third quarter of Game 2 and did not return to the game. Nurkic played just 16 minutes in Game 2.
The good news for Game 3: Nurkic is not on the Blazers’ injury report.
However, Evan Turner injured his right big toe in Tuesday’s game and ended up playing just 20 minutes. Turner is listed as questionable for Thursday’s game.
New Orleans has listed Alexis Ajinca (right knee), DeMarcus Cousins (left Achilles rupture) and Frank Jackson (right foot fracture) as out for Thursday’s contest in New Orleans.
