It wasn’t all that pretty until the end.
The Trail Blazers had missed their first nine shots of the second quarter against the Warriors and it was a similar start to the third for Portland. The Warriors struggled from the free throw line from tip-off, and there were plenty of costly turnovers committed by both teams.
But, this week’s theme of the Trail Blazers Classic games on NBCSNW is game-winners and this was a good one!
Damian Lillard hit a go-head three-pointer in overtime that is worth another watch.
This was the last regular season game the Oakland native would play at Oracle Arena on Dec. 27, 2018.
With Lillard’s three, the Trail Blazers beat the Warriors, 110-109 in OT.
The Trail Blazers five-time All-Star went 7-for-20 from the field in front of his friends and family at Oracle. He finished with 21 points and five assists. And what an ending it was to a chapter in Lillard’s life. He grew up attending games at Oracle, sometimes even sneaking into games as a kid. He joked that the security was not what it was today.
Lillard said postgame,"that's a hell of a way to go out. We needed this win. It was a big game for us, especially having to play them two times in a row, having to play such a solid game.”
Jusuf Nurkic added 27 points and 12 rebounds. CJ McCollum finished with 24 points.
