The 'BEAT LA' Week continues in the first of four weeks of themed Classic Trail Blazers games to be aired on NBCSNW.
It’s time to throw it back to Jan. 23, 2016 to when the Trail Blazers welcomed in the Lakers in Kobe Bryant’s last game in Portland.
It was a memorable night with fans cheering on the Lakers legend one last time at Moda Center.
Damian Lillard dropped 36 points as the Blazers defeated the Lakers, 121-103.
Lillard had five 3-pointers on the night, but he’ll remember it more for playing against a legend.
The Oakland native expressed his feelings squaring off against Kobe while Bryant made his way through his farewell tour.
"Growing up, I was a Warriors fan but when the playoffs came I was a Lakers fan because we never made the playoffs,” Lillard said postgame. “I was on Kobe's back, like, `Let's go Kobe, let's go Shaq.’ Now to play against him, and to know him, it's been a pleasure."
There was no bad blood between Portland and Bryant that night, not to mention there were plenty of Lakers fans in attendance.
Kobe finished with 10 points in the loss. It was Bryant's 62nd career game against Portland.
A fan behind the Lakers' bench held a sign that read "Thank You Kobe."
That night marked the sixth time that Lillard had 30+ points against the Lakers up to that point in his career.
