It all comes down to this… Blazers host Jazz
A quick look back
Do you remember a time in recent history when the Western Conference standings were this tightly packed together with seed three through eight all coming down to the final two days of regular season?
The Trail Blazers and Jazz finish up the regular season with a showdown like no other on Wednesday night. Yeah, there will be no resting players when home court advantage is still on the line for the Blazers.
As of Tuesday morning, there were a total of 32 potential playoff scenarios that could paly out between the final days of the season, with Portland potentially facing New Orleans, San Antonio, Utah, Minnesota, Denver or Oklahoma City.
Just a little crazy? Yep, just a little.
Portland is back home after going 0-4 on its current road trip with the Blazers most recent loss coming on Monday night to the Denver Nuggets by a final score of 88-82. As for Utah, the Jazz will face off against Golden State on Tuesday night with playoff implications on the line (of course) and a five-game winning streak.
Looking at the regular season series between Portland and Utah, the Jazz hold a 2-1 series lead after beating Portland in the first two meetings of the season.
The Blazers took a 100-81 victory over the Jazz in their most recent matchup, post All-Star break on February 23rd in Salt Lake City when Portland snapped Utah’s 11-game win streak. CJ McCollum had a game-high 26 points, while Damian Lillard added 24 points.
The Blazers scored 22 points off the Jazz 20 turnovers in that only win of the season vs. Utah.
The Trail Blazers have listed Maurice Harkless (left knee) as OUT for Wednesday’s contest vs. Utah.
As for the Jazz, Utah has not yet released its injury report for Wednesday’s game. The Jazz did announce that they will not hold a shoot around on Wednesday morning.
Current playoff picture
With the final two days of the NBA regular season, the Western Conference standings are nowhere near set.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, there are a total of 32 possible scenarios remaining, with a 50% chance that the Blazers will play the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round.
