A look at CJ McCollum's hairstyles through the years
Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum, through the years, has evolved in both his appearance and his style.
Once compared to Steve Urkel, McCollum has shed that label and upped his fashion game to the max.
And through the years, McCollum's hairstyle has changed, but only in the slightest ways.
June 19th marks the commemoration of Juneteenth, which is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States, dating back to 1865.
McCollum, who has been quarantined like everyone else, hasn't been able to get his haircut, allowing it to grow.
As part of his acknowledgment of Juneteenth, CJ took to social media to let everyone know he was done letting his hair grow.
He posted this photo along with the caption: "Happy Juneteenth. Figured today was a good day to get my hair did. Been a rough quarantine. Looking like somebody auntie #blackboyjoy"
The reveal of CJ's hair is something we've NEVER seen from him before...
Let's take a look at CJ's hairstyle through the years, leading to his grand reveal of... BRAIDS!
Taken during the second round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at Greensboro Coliseum on March 16, 2012 in Greensboro, North Carolina, a young CJ McCollum sported this tight hairstyle en route to upsetting the Duke Blue Devils.
CJ McCollum's rookie photo shoot
In 2013, CJ McCollum, who was drafted 10th overall, dons the Trail Blazers sash for the first time. His hair has grown out a little since march, but it remains clean and tight.
CJ rocks this hairstyle for quite some time, making only minor tweaks.
In this photo of CJ McCollum on December 30th, 2015 vs. the Nuggets, his hair is a bit thicker and his mustache is also more prominent.
This photo was taken on January 5th, 2017 vs. the Los Angeles Lakers.
This is the first biggest change CJ made to his hair since he was drafted. His hair is fuller and he's rocking a bit of a fade.
His lower chin beard is also more grown out.
Also taken in 2017, this time in March, CJ seems to be trying out different looks to see what he likes.
His hair is full, curly and only has a slight taper.
Taken February 8, 2018 against the Charlotte Hornets at the Moda Center Arena, CJ is rocking a low skin fade with a medium length top fade.
Later in 2018
Taken October 12th, 2018 vs. the Sacramento Kings, CJ is all smiles with his long curly top fade with a progressive taper.
This photo of CJ was taken on January 11th, 2020 when the Blazers took on the Milwaukee Bucks.
CJ's top fade is even taller!
And then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Well, let's see the big reveal, which is the most drastic change to his hair yet!
"Welcome to the braid life," Michael Carter-Williams of the Orlando Magic said.
"Cj! With a baby bonnet," said another user.
No telling how long CJ's going to keep it. Maybe we'll see it when the NBA resumes on July 31st.
