NBA Key Dates for resuming 2019-20 season, start of 2020-21 season
Thursday, the NBA's Board of Governors reportedly voted to approve the league's 22-team format to restart the 2019-20 season at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports at Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Under this approved plan, 13 Western Conference teams and nine Eastern Conference teams would play eight regular-season games.
Then if needed, a possible play-in tournament to determine the eighth seed.

2019-20 Training camp
It has been reported that teams will start practicing in their own facilities before traveling to Orlando. Training camp is set to begin June 30.
Teams will travel to Orlando on July 7.
Other important dates to note from The Athletic’s Shams Charania: On June 15, players outside of the U.S. will return to their local market. June 21 is when all players will report to camp, while June 22 is when coronavirus testing will begin.
Resumption date for 2019-20 season
The first game of the 2019-20 season is slated for July 31.
The players, coaching staff, and all other personnel would live life in a 'bubble.'
From recent reports, the NBA is still figuring out what life in the NBA bubble will look like exactly. But according to ESPN, players and coaches will be allowed to golf while maintaining social distancing. And, they will only be allowed to eat at outdoor restaurants. Employees at the Disney resort will have to follow similar protocols. The NBA is also planning to administer daily testing for the coronavirus.
The league has reportedly said that if the NBA Finals were to go to a decisive Game 7 the latest possible date would be Monday, Oct. 12.
NBA Lottery, Draft, and Free agency
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery will be held on Aug. 25, while the 2020 Draft will take place on Oct. 15.
There will be a short window from the end of the NBA playoffs to the start of free agency. With free agency that usually runs in early July it will now begin on Oct. 18.
Training camp for 2020-21 season
All 30 teams would report to training camp on Nov. 10 as opposed to the typical start at the beginning of Oct. It's a little earlier than expected, but this could be a push by the league to get the season underway and finished by the end of June.
Opening Night Target Date
For weeks now the thought was the NBA would tip-off the 2020-21 season on Christmas Day. Now according to various reports, that new targeted date for opening night in Dec. 1.
