Road Trip Finale: Portland at Houston
Blazers on second night of a back-to-back: Portland is coming off of a win on Monday night vs. the Pacers. Versus Indiana, the Blazers big men got into early foul trouble. Jusuf Nurkic picked up two quick fouls in the first quarter. By halftime, Meyers Leonard and Caleb Swanigan had three fouls each but Zach Collins (17 pts) and Swanigan (11 pts, 10 rebs) powered the Blazers to victory.
James Harden OUT: The Rockets will be without James Harden when the Blazers visit Houston. Harden has already been ruled out officially of Tuesday's game after he suffered a Grade-1 hamstring strain last Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz. ***UPDATE: For the Trail Blazers, Maurice Harkless (left knee) is OUT for Tuesday's contest as well.
A rough start for Houston: Just five games into the season, the Rockets are 1-4. According to reports, Houston used its off day on Tuesday to change up their defensive schemes in order to get ready for Portland. Friday’s 133-113 loss to the Clippers really prompted the need for a change to the defense. The Rockets allowed the Clippers to shoot 54.4 percent from the floor and 52.2 percent from 3-point range.
What most Trail Blazer fans remember about last season’s Trail Blazers and Rockets series is that they were all close games and that the Rockets snapped the Blazers 13-game winning streak with a 115-111 win on March 21st. In that game, James Harden scored 42 points. Al-Farouq Aminu led the Blazers with 22 points, including six 3-pointers.
The Rockets took the season series, 4-0.
