Spurs with more of a playoff intensity?
“He got to the rim when he wanted to.”
Dwight Jaynes on Talkin’ Ball, questioned the Blazers’ defense in Portland’s 116-105 loss to San Antonio. Dwight also had a lot to say about veteran Manu Ginobili.
“He had a lot of open shots and he got to the rim when he wanted to… The Spurs shot 56% tonight.
You’re not going to beat them allowing them to shoot 56%. The Blazers got to get after them defensively much better than that. Too many Spurs players had very good nights, including Manu.”
“He got through it without injuring himself even worse.”
Dwight on Damian Lillard’s play in Dame’s return from a left ankle injury.
“He shot the ball pretty well. He got through it without injuring himself even worse it appeared. I like the way he shot the ball, particularly in the first half.
He did have seven turnovers… I think handling the ball and being in the right spot and finding his teammates was a bit of a problem for him.”
“I just don’t really understand why he isn’t playing more.”
Does Dwight want to see Wade Baldwin play more and take minutes away from Shabazz Napier?
“I’d frankly like to see it. I think you need to get the perimeter defense better. I think Baldwin is better at that then Shabazz is; he’s also taller, he gets into the passing lanes better…
I just don’t really understand why he isn’t playing more to tell you the truth.”
“Maybe the Spurs had a little more playoff intensity.”
Dwight couldn’t help but think that Saturday night’s game was almost like a preview postseason play.
“I thought maybe the Spurs had a little more playoff intensity than the Trail Blazers did… Maybe these guys are kind of laying back a little bit mentally.”
