The new logo introduces a new font type and slightly modifies the classic pinwheel by meshing past and present design ideas to fully encompass the history of the franchise into one new logo. Here are just a few of the tweaks outlined by the Trail Blazers:
- Drawing inspiration from the 1970’s logo, the pinwheel is constructed with evenly spaced lines, and in a new added touch the five lines are now fully connected as an added sign of teamwork and unity.
- The angle of the lines are exactly 45 degrees as a way of representing the 45th Parallel North, which runs through the heart of Oregon.
- The color scheme is now reversed, with the red being on top, a tip of the hat to the Blazers brand of the 1990’s.
The primary team colors remain red, black, and white, while the secondary colors see some changes, with the Blazers adding a deep red and three variations of silver. The deep red is new to the brand, and it will be interesting to see how they incorporate these into the uniforms.
The changes are small, but the Blazers now have a pinwheel for the future.
