Trending Topics: It should’ve been #LillardTime at All-Star game
Apparently, Team Steph didn’t know what time it was?
Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard put on a show on Sunday night and finished with an impressive performance in his third All-Star Game appearance.
Lillard came off the bench for Team Stephen, but he tied for a team-high 21 points in 21 minutes –which was a personal best in an All-Star Game. Team Steph ended up losing 148-145 to Team LeBron.
BUT HERE’S THE THING… Lillard saw the court for about five minutes at the start of the 4th quarter, but then did not return to the game…. EVEN THOUGH, Team Steph needed a three-pointer to tie the game on the final possession…
Ummm…. Team Steph head coach Mike D’Antoni-- Have you never heard of #LillardTime??
Fans know what time it should’ve been!
If only, Rip City fans were coaching Team Steph, maybe then (probably then), Team Steph would’ve won because you KNOW Lillard would be playing in crunch time!
Dame is in good company with his 20+ points in an All-Star game
Lillard's 21 points scored in this year’s All-Star game was the most by any All-Star reserve, and Lillard tied for most points on Team Steph with starter DeMar DeRozan. It was LeBron James who scored the game-high with 29 points. Lillard finished the night with an efficient 9-of-14 shooting to go along with his three rebounds and two assists.
Dame now joins Clyde Drexler as the only two Trail Blazer players with 20+ points in an All-Star game. Drexler holds the record for most points in an All-Star Game in Trail Blazers history with 25 points (1992).
Who is the real MVP?
Not only did Dame score 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, but he also went 3-of-8 from deep.
LIllard told the media after the game, "I've been telling people all weekend, there's just a different vibe to my time here than my first two. A Little older, a little more mature, I think the respect of my peers has gone up since then.”
Well, social media showed its respect for Dame. Tons of fans on twitter felt that it should’ve been Lillard to earn the All-Star MVP award. Lillard received one out of three total fan votes, so that it was not a unanimous vote for LeBron James to win the 2018 NBA All-Star MVP honors.
By the way, Lillard finished the night with a plus-minus of plus 18, which was the best plus-minus of any player on the night. #JustSaying
Lillard helps Blazers pay their debt to Charles Barkley
Last week, Charles Barkley shared a story on TNT that he had flown to Portland one summer over 10 years ago to convince the Trail Blazers to trade for him and obviously, Portland did not end up trading for Chuck. But… In his story he told last week, Barkley made it clear that the Trail Blazers owed him $1,197, because he spent his own money to fly out to Portland.
Well, after the All-Star game, Damian Lillard and the Blazers PAID UP!
Lillard delivered a check for that exact total of $1,197 to Barkley. Chuck said he wouldn’t cash the check out of respect for the organization and instead he would frame it... But, we’ll see if Barkley gets the check back from Shaq since he was the last one to be seen with that Trail Blazers check.
