It has been a busy day for Neil Olshey and the Portland Trail Blazers. NBA Free Agency officially started at 6 p.m. eastern time, and it was shortly thereafter that the Blazers lost starting power forward Al-Farouq Aminu.
Aminu, an unrestricted free agent, reportedly has agreed to a three-year deal with the Orlando Magic.
However, before the dust could even settle from that move the Blazers made a big free agent splash of their own. In a move that few saw coming, the Blazers were able to retain forward Rodney Hood on a two-year deal. As if that weren't enough, news broke later in the day that the Blazers had agreed to a deal with Knicks free agent Mario Hezonja.
As is customary in 2019, fans took to social media to react to Portland's moves:
Just a heads up for those wondering about Hezonja- totally unrelated to basketball skill... trash talking, ego fueled, fun guy.— Danny Marang (@DannyMarang) July 1, 2019
Portland needs a couple of guys like that. Seriously.
Nurk & Super Mario should be a fun pair.

So happy we're hanging on to Rodney Hood. I think he's shown he really wants to be here and that he appreciates the culture.— Corvallis Foodie (@corvallisonian) June 30, 2019

LeBron wanted Dame in LA. Instead Dame brought Mario “the LeBron blocker” Hezonja to Portland.— Varoon Bose (@varoonbose) July 1, 2019
On a minimum I don't hate this. Hezonja didn't show much this past year but he's a guy worth maybe taking a flier on. https://t.co/nvAE2Ab3P9— David Brandon (@birdrightsnba) July 1, 2019
