Wade Baldwin with ‘the best defensive job a Portland player has ever done on Harden’
“Had a sense of urgency off the bench.”
Dwight Jaynes on Talkin’ Ball had praise for Wade Baldwin and the Blazers second unit after Portland closed out the game on a 17-2 run in Houston.
“He was pretty good and a lot of other guys off the end of the bench were very good. You talk about defense winning ball games; the defense had a sense of urgency off the bench that the starters didn’t come close to… They shut them out.
That was tremendous intensity on defense and they made some shots too.”
“He went right at him.”
Dwight had a lot more to say about Wade Baldwin’s defensive performance and his ability to go 6-of-10 from the field to finish with 14 points in 32 minutes of play.
“He’s a tough kid, you can tell; wasn’t intimidated one bit by James Harden. He went right at him and did a great job; really the best defensive job I’ve seen a Portland player ever do on James Harden. It was terrific…
He came with the reputation that he wasn’t going to make shots, well, he’s making them.”
“It disgusts me.”
Dwight isn’t having it! The Godfather is so not a fan of the special treatment that James Harden gets on both ends of the court.
“It disgusts me to see Harden get all those calls. He travels all the time-- no call. He pushes off, he grabs, he holds. And then on his shots, we saw a couple of times tonight, nobody even touched him and he went to the free throw line.”
