The Carolina Panthers have had a vacancy at the general manager spot for quite some time.
And now, Panthers owner David Tepper has made his first major front-office hire to take control of that position.
On Thursday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has reported that the Panthers are expected to hire Seattle Seahawks VP of football operations Scott Fitterer as their new general manager.
Hours later, the Panthers made it official.
Fitterer has been mentioned before for other candidate jobs, but the Panthers have been the first to really pursue him.
As the new general manager coming into Carolina, he will have a lot of business to take care of this offseason surrounding the quarterback position and whether the Panthers will move forward with Teddy Bridgewater.
Other candidates considered for the GM gig included 49ers Vice President of player personnel Adam Peters, Chiefs assistant director of player personnel Ryan Poles, and Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort.
