Darius Slay fined for scuffle with DK Metcalf on Monday Night Football

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is literally making the Eagles pay for not drafting him.

Under the lights on Monday Night Football, Pro Bowl corner Darius Slay matched up with Seahawks second-year wide receiver DK Metcalf, and the two players got in a shoving match from the start.

Slay was called for the personal-foul penalty when he went in for the extra shove on Metcalf after the play, but ultimately the Seahawks phenom got the last laugh.

On Saturday, Slay was fined $10,500 for unnecessary roughness in his tussle with Metcalf, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

Simply put, Metcalf got the better of Slay.

Metcalf ended up with 10 catches for 177 yards and most of that damage came with the Slay shadowing him on 26 of his 27 routes, according to Next Gen Stats.

“I would say this is by far the worst game I have ever played in the league,” said the eight-year veteran after the game.. “I truly lost every 50/50 ball. I was probably O-for. I have never been that, but I say props to him, he played his ass off today, and I have to get better.

Not only was Darius Slay tormented and embarrassed by Metcalf all night long, but now he’s paying for it, quite literally. I guess that’s what happens when you try to shadow one of the most intimidating players in the league.
