Russell Wilson and Ciara continue to give back in a big way.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback and pop star teamed up with Amazon Home to surprise Marc Sellier, a registered nurse inside the Pediatric Care Unit at Seattle Children’s for over 17 years and his wife Mona, a local Pilates instructor, with a home makeover.
Marc, who has worked tirelessly to rehabilitate young COVID-19 patients, suffered major water damage to his home in January, forcing him and his wife to have to evacuate their home for five months and leaving many areas of the home desperate for repair.
To honor Marc and all the healthcare workers who give back to the community on a daily basis, the Wilsons teamed up with Amazon Home to surprise them with new furniture, accessories and décor, as well as small renovations.
“Mark, we know you’ve been working so hard at Seattle Children’s Hospital and you know Seattle Children’s are a huge part of our world and really important to us on every level,” Ciara said. “While we know you’ve been working so hard, we also know you guys have faced many challenges, we know your home got flooded and that was so unfortunate. But what’s really fortunate is we’re teaming up with Amazon Home to get your place looking good. We’re going to level up your place.”
The couple will get to work with local interior designer, Sarah Eizen, to make their house a “home” again.
“We love interior decorating, I’m pretty good at it just so you guys know,” Russell joked during the call. “And Ciara is amazing, but I think that’s one of the things that attracted her to me.”
In addition, Amazon Home will make donations to Seattle Children’s and the Why Not You Foundation, a non-profit founded by the Wilsons that helps raise funds for pediatric cancer research.
Russell began his “Blue Tuesday” tradition when he was drafted in 2012. He frequently visits the pediatric cancer unit and often brings fellow teammates, celebrities, to help brighten up the spirits of young cancer patients.
Now, 31, married, and a father of three, Wilson keeps showing up every Tuesday. Together he and Ciara are committed to the fight against pediatric cancer, and use their platform to impact the lives of those who continuously go above and beyond each year.
