The sports world stopped a year ago, January 26th, 2020 when NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others died in a helicopter crash.

Bryant's cultural impact goes beyond the basketball court. On the anniversary of his passing, many athletes across all sports paid respect to the Black Mamba including many Seattle Seahawks.

Quarterback Russell Wilson posted a picture of Kobe and Gianna with a quote from the five-time NBA Champion.

Wilson paid tribute to the two near the end of the 2020 NFL Season when he dawned a Black Mamba jersey with No. 8 on the front and No. 24 on the back prior to an NFC West-clinching win over the Los Angeles Rams.

”Kobz, you were an inspiration to me growing up,” Wilson said in the video. “You were an inspiration to me in the NFL, and was a pro, because I always watched how you did everything with grace, always worked hard at everything.”

He continued, “You know Gigi, you were an inspiration to so many girls. Kobe, you were a girl dad.”

After winning the division, Wilson stated he had Mamba mentality in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Other Seahawks who posted about the late Kobe Bryant Tuesday were safety Jamal Adams and running back Rashaad Penny.
