Seahawks players will not attend voluntary offseason workouts

The Seahawks players issued a statement via the NFLPA that they will not attend any voluntary workouts at the VMAC due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.

The offseason program was slated to begin on Monday, but the NFLPA is urging that everything remain virtual, including mandatory minicamp, until training camp begins in late July.

Here is the full statement:

The wishes of the NFLPA are consistent with what took place in 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

The NFL announced on Tuesday that all club personnel (excluding players) will be required to get a COVID-19 vaccine in order to be considered for Tier 1 or Tier 2 status in 2022.

Given how well everything worked out last year in regard to utilizing a virtual offseason program, it would be surprising to see the league push back against the players too aggressively in this situation.
