DK Metcalf is Pro Bowl bound for the first time in his NFL career.
The Seahawks second-year receiver was honored for his dominant play in 2020, the league announced Monday. Metcalf also took home the most fan votes of any receiver in the NFL with 271,558.
Coming off a rookie season where Metcalf had 58 catches for 900 yards and seven touchdowns, Metcalf has a phenomenal 1,223 yards and 10 touchdowns through 14 games.
The Seahawks No. 64 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft is just 64 yards away from passing the legendary Steve Largent, who has held the record for the most receiving yards by a receiver in team history for the past 35 years.
With two regular-season games left and the postseason awaiting, it seems inevitable Metcalf will top Largent’s 1,287 yards.
Metcalf’s continued success will be crucial down the finish, as the Seahawks are in contention for the NFC West throne. Seattle and the Los Angeles Rams will battle it out next Sunday at Lumen Field for the title.
Pro Bowl teams are chosen by a combination of fan voting, media and coaches. The NFL's "All-Star" game has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s the first time the Pro Bowl has been canceled since 1949.
