DK Metcalf swaps football for the mic, delivers fire bars in "Shady"

Tyler Lockett isn’t the only Seahawks player dropping bars.

No. 2 wideout DK Metcalf is the latest pro football player to dip his toes into the rap game. Metcalf released his latest track, "Shady," in collaboration with Reuben Mwehla also known as Seattle artist KingCo.

The second-year wideout recently performed his song in the Seahawks locker room, and let's just say his teammates were hype.

When asked about Metcalf getting his feet wet in the rap game with his latest “Shady” drop, Seahawks wide receiver, Tyler Lockett, admitted his teammate’s isn’t just dominating on the field.

“I think DK’s a really good rapper,” Lockett said. “One of these days, we’re trying to get him to put me and David Moore on a track with him. But you know how that is, you make one good hit and you don’t want to hit us back no more.”

Lockett’s been known to deliver some powerful bars himself. The sixth-year receiver released a poetry book in 2019 called “Reflection,” where he expresses his thoughts on identity, sports, race, relationships, and how to live a purposeful life.

Lockett has also shared videos on social media of him performing poetry over the years.

So, is a collaboration in the works between Russell Wilson’s top 2 weapons?

“We shall see,” Lockett said. “Right now, DK is shining, not only on the field, but also his music career. So, just letting him see how far he can take it, and just kind of see, the tools that he can use to be able to successful in what area he wants. But we’re definitely gonna try to get that. We do a lot of freestyle battles.”

DK’s new track certainly brings the heat, and his punchline flow is on lock. There’s no denying the 22-year-old Oxford, Miss., native is equally as passionate about music as he is about balling out on the football field.

We’ll let you be the judge. Listen to the track below.
