Seattle mayor tells New Orleans mayor to 'keep your eyes off' Russell Wilson

The recruitment of Russell Wilson is continues!

Ever since Russell Wilson laid out four possible trade destinations, the courtship has been fast and furious.

While Wilson hasn’t demanded a trade, the Bears, Cowboys, Raiders and Saints are all places the Seahawks QB would wave his no-trade clause.

Members of the Bears organization have been reaching out on social media.

NBC Sports Chicago has become a Russell Wilson fan account.

And now, the city of New Orleans has gotten in on the action.

Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has already publicly advocated for Wilson.

Then, on Friday, the Mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, posted this pitch video to Wilson and his wife, Ciara.

I’ve heard the rumors now, and I want to make sure that you understand that the city of New Orleans is the place for you and your beautiful family. I know you, Mr. Wilson, would be a great addition to the New Orleans Saints. And more importantly, I can see us in that number winning that Super Bowl championship once again.

The video, which has been viewed over a half million times since the writing of this article, caught the attention of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan.

Durkan’s reference to “don’t make me go there” is in reference to the relocation rumors that surround the New Orleans Pelicans. Team owner Gayle Benson, who also owns the Saints, has denied the NBA team is leaving New Orleans while she owns them.

Of course, all of this is in good fun.

For now.
