The Seahawks are coming off of a close 26-23 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday but were not able to move up from the No. 3 seed in the NFC standings.
So, they have to take on the Rams for the second time in three weeks on Saturday in the Wild Card Round in order to move forward into the playoffs.
On Sunday, the Seahawks were struggling to get anything going on the offense until the second half vs. the 49ers, where quarterback Russell Wilson threw for two touchdowns and just 181 passing yards.
Running back Chris Carson had 11 carries for just 44 yards and was a huge help in moving the chains for the offense.
Wide receivers Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf both broke franchise records in the game on Sunday in receptions and in receiving yards.
Seattle’s defense came up big when it mattered in the fourth quarter by forcing San Francisco to punt on one of their final scoring drives and a big takeaway from defensive end Benson Mayowa.
The run defense also gave up just 86 rushing yards on 3.6 yards per attempt. They finished out the regular season fifth in rushing yards per game against opposing teams.
For the Rams, they were able to beat the Arizona Cardinals 18-7 on Sunday without quarterback Jared Goff. John Wolford stepped up the plate and threw for 231 passing yards and one interception. Obviously, the team is looking to get Goff back for the game against the Seahawks, which that status is still up in the air.
In regards to injuries, the Seahawks could be without Jamal Adams and Jarren Reed as they both suffered injuries during Sunday’s matchup. The Rams are still waiting to see if Jared Goff’s thumb will be able to go Saturday. Both team’s injuries will be something to keep an eye on as the week continues.
Wilson is still healthy and ready to lead his team into battle against the Rams. He is listed on PointsBet at +130 for over 300 passing yards against the Rams, while quarterback Jared Goff (who hasn’t been announced as the starter just yet) is still listed at +120 for getting over 300 passing yards in the game.
It is anyone’s guess if Goff will play on Saturday or not. An update will be coming here later in the week.
