It’s the perfect pairing.
After nearly 20 months of waiting, NHL Seattle fans found out Thursday morning that the 32nd NHL franchise will be named the Seattle Kraken.
And it appears the franchise has already found the perfect sponsor as well. Seattle Kraken meet Kraken Rum. It’s a natural fit.
That’s right, according to Geoff Baker of The Seattle Times, Kraken Rum has agreed to become the official rum sponsor of the team, which is only appropriate since both the team and rum are named after the mystical sea creature.
Kraken Rum has yet to share out any information about the partnership on social media. However, NHL Seattle CEO Tod Leiweke confirmed the Times’ report during his noon availability on Thursday.
He also acknowledged that he can’t wait to pour Kraken into the Stanley Cup. The Cup will be anxiously waiting.
See you in 2022, @NHLSeattle_? 🤔— The Stanley Cup (@StanleyCup) July 23, 2020
Fans on social media gave the sponsorship their stamp of approval, and boy are they thirsty.
Looks like I will be doing nothing but drinking @KrakenRum while watching hockey now 🐙— Griffin (@RealGriffinLane) July 23, 2020
Kraken Rum also has to be ecstatic because their about to grow 300% in the Northwest or at least Puget Sound.— Paul 🍻 (@PaulLovesBeer90) July 23, 2020
If it's the official booze, people are going to snatch it up let alone bars trying to make all these Kraken themed cocktails.
Might have to go out and celebrate the new team by purchasing a bottle of Kraken Rum. Seriously if they don’t become the official drink sponsor of @NHLSeattle_ then both the franchise and the drinks marketing team have failed loool pic.twitter.com/5pfMzf96tp— Matt Goudreau (@MattGoudreau) July 23, 2020
You can hear it on commercials: Kraken Rum, the official sponsor of the Seattle Kraken.
It looks like hockey isn’t the only thing that’s about to get Kraken in the Emerald City before 2021. Be safe out there, Seattle.
