Only two Seahawks selected to the Pro Bowl
Ouch...the Seattle Seahawks offense is nowhere to be found on the 2019 Pro Bowl team.
Despite leading the NFL in rushing and having a quarterback who is tied for the NFC lead in touchdown passes, the Seahawks offense was MIA in the recent Pro Bowl selections.
Seattle's defense and special teams, however, did get a little love. Veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner and rookie punter Michael Dickson were the lone Seahawks named on the NFC Pro Bowl team roster.
Running back Chris Carson, defensive end Frank Clark, return specialist Tyler Lockett, safety Bradley McDougald, guard J.R. Sweezy, quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker K.J. Wright were named alternates to the NFL's annual All-Star game.
Josh Gordon is stepping away from football
New England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon is taking some time away from the football field.
After sharing a post on social media announcing he was stepping away from the Patriots to focus on his mental health, the league announced Gordon had violated the “terms of his conditional reinstatement under the Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.”
The wideout is facing an indefinite ban and has returned to the Reserve/Commissioner Suspended List.
Is shoulder surgery coming for Cam Newton?
Cam Newton’s season has come to a close. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Panthers have decided to sit Newton, who has been dealing with an ailing shoulder injury.
The move comes after a six-game losing streak for the Panthers. With Carolina essentially out of the playoff picture, it makes since to shut down Newton now and give his shoulder a rest.
The Panthers are expected to start Taylor Heinicke this Sunday vs. the Falcons.
Aaron Donald knew James Conner was special
Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner was named to his first Pro Bowl this week, and he’s thanking a former teammate for his success.
Conner took to social media on Wednesday to express gratitude for Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who sent him a text in 2016 when he was diagnosed from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
In the text, Donald told Conner he was going to one day look back on the message after multiple Pro Bowl and All Pro honors. Donald was right.
Three of Conner’s teammates, center Maurkice Pouncey, guard David DeCastro and tackle Alejandro Villanueva also earned Pro Bowl honors.
