Week 17 is shaping up just how we thought it would.
The Seahawks vs. 49ers matchup to close the 2019 regular season will determine the winner of the NFC West. Thus, the NFL has flexed the game to "Sunday Night Football." The contest will now kick off at 5:20 p.m. PT.
San Francisco edged Los Angeles on Saturday night to ensure the stakes in Week 17. Seattle plays Arizona on Sunday afternoon, and while a win would aid the Seahawks pursuit of a first-round bye, it's ultimately meaningless strictly in terms of the division.
The Seahawks and 49ers last met in Week 10 when Seattle won in overtime, 27-24, on a 42-yard field goal from Jason Myers. If San Francisco wins in Week 17, the 49ers will claim the No. 1 seed. Seattle would still need some help in order to do so. However, the Saints are currently losing to the Titans. A New Orleans loss would mean that Seattle controls its own destiny for the No. 1 seed.
