This week, the NFL is releasing its list of the top 100 players in the league.
Two Seattle Seahawks were already named to that list:
No. 96 - Running Back Chris Carson
Carson made his first appearance on the 2020 NFL Top 100 list. Carson, a seventh-round pick in 2017, is coming off his second-straight 1,000-yard season. In 15 games last season, he rushed for 1,230 yards and seven touchdowns, and caught 37 passes for 266 yards and two scores.
No. 81 - Wide Receiver DK Metcalf
Metcalf landed at No. 81 after finishing the 2019 season, where he recorded 58 receptions for 900 yards and seven touchdowns, the second-most catches and receiving yards by a rookie in franchise history.
On Monday, the NFL released another portion of the list and another Seahawk was revealed.
No. 65 - Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett
[Listen to the latest Talkin’ Seahawks Podcast with host Joe Fann].
Here is where Lockett stacks up amongst the other receivers on this list so far.
No. 93 Allen Robinson (Chicago Bears)
No. 89 Cooper Kupp (Los Angeles Rams)
No. 81 DK Metcalf (Seattle Seahawks)
No. 77 Keenan Allen (Los Angeles Chargers)
No. 69 Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals)
No. 65 Tyler Lockett (Seattle Seahawks)
No. 61 Jarvis Landry (Cleveland Browns)
No. 59 Odell Beckham Jr. (Cleveland Browns)
No. 57 Davante Adams (Green Bay Packers)
No. 54 Stefon Diggs (Buffalo Bills)
Is Lockett at No. 65 fair?
The 27-year-old, six-year veteran has made his way to Russell Wilson’s No. 1 target, and with good reason. Lockett recorded 82 receptions for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns in 2019. His first year in the league resulted in First-Team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl appearance in 2015.
Yes, Odell Beckham Jr. has freak hands and can catch nearly everything thrown his way, but Lockett was statistically better than OBJ and Davante Adams in 2019.
Also, let’s not forget this outrageous, toe-drag-swag catch last season:
Do you agree with Lockett’s ranking? We don't.
