Seattle Storm unveils futuristic logo, launches new brand identity  


For weeks, the Seattle Storm has been releasing videos and photos to their social media accounts with the hashtag #TakeCover, hinting at a massive announcement on March 2.

Well, the day is finally here, and the surprise has lived up to the hype.

For the first time in 21 years when the team made its WNBA debut, the 4x WNBA champions have updated their iconic emblem. 

The Storm unveiled the updated, futuristic logo on Tuesday which reflects “the storied history of the franchise, its championship culture and connection to the city of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest,” the team said in a statement.

The redesigned logo features the iconic Space Needle within the ribs of a basketball, a lightning bolt at the center, and it is all formed inside a triangular shape that represents the peak of Mount Everest. 


The logo has hues of lightning yellow, thunder green, and brighter bolt green to stay consistent with the Storm’s original color scheme that was adopted in 2001.


Their NHL counterparts, the Seattle Kraken, joined in on the reveal as well.

To celebrate the new-look Storm, guards Sue Bird and Jordin Canada will raise the flag featuring the new logo atop the Space Needle at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
