Three takeaways from the Storm's 85-78 win against the Mystics

Northwest

The Seattle Storm (18-7) defeated the Washington Mystics (8-14) in a relatively close game, 85-78. Although the score was close, a win is a win and the Storm are now on a two-game winning streak.

Here are three quick takeaways from their win:

Breanna Stewart’s dominance

Stewart recorded her second straight double-double and 12th of the season, which ties her with A’ja Wilson and Jonquel Jones for second in the league. All three are trialing Brittney Griner.

Stewart finished the night with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The other stepped up

Although Stewart’s numbers looked impressive, her shot along with Jewell Loyd’s and Sue Bird’s weren’t falling. The trio combined to shoot 11-of-39 from the field.

Luckily, Mercedes Russell and Ezi Magbegor stepped up to score 14 points each. Katie Lou Samuelson also chipped in with 10 points and the trio went on to shoot 17-of-24 from the field.

Two-time MVP returns

For the first time in almost two years -- 22 months to be exact due to multiple back surgeries and opting out of the 2020 season do the pandemic -- Elena Delle Donne returned to the court.

She finished with 16 points in 22 minutes.
