The sports world is celebrating! Two of the WNBA’s stars will soon be walking down the aisle.
Seattle Storm forward and WNBA Finals MVP Breanna Stewart got down on one knee recently to propose to Phoenix Mercury guard Marta Xargay. Stewart shared out the special announcement in a post on Twitter with this caption: “Did a thing. Another ring. She said YES.”
Stewart proposed at the picturesque Papago Park which overlooks the cities of Phoenix and Tempe in Arizona.
The 26-year-old Stewart has led the Storm to two WNBA championships in 2018 and 2020 since hearing her name called as the No. 1 pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft. She was named 2018's WNBA Most Valuable Player and Finals MVP during her two title runs.
Xargay is a Spanish pro who played for the Mercury in 2015 and 2016. She is currently on Phoenix’s preseason roster and is expected to suit up for the Mercury on Saturday as the Storm comes to town for a preseason game.
After winning two championship rings, Stewart will soon don a new piece of permanent hardware for the rest of her life. Congratulations to Stewie and Marta on their engagement!
