The Past 48 hours: Major moves in Oregon football recruiting

In the last two days, there has been major moves made in Oregon football recruiting that impacts next season and beyond. Does the good outweigh the bad? I don’t think so, but you decide.

GOOD: Two future offensive weapons demonstrate devotion and enthusiasm.

2019 four-star wide receiver plans to enroll early and get to work: Mycah Pittman, four-star recruit by 247 sports, plans on enrolling early at Oregon and going through football spring drills with hopes to compete as soon as possible at the college level.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound receiver chose Oregon in July over offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and Washington.

2021 prospect, nation’s No. 2 running back, re-commits to Oregon: After decomitting in September, Seven McGee, has decided to commit again to the Ducks.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pound athlete is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 running back and No. 51 overall prospect in the 2021 class. He has been recruited to Oregon as a running back but has desires to also play in the slot.

BAD: Two four-star defensive athletes decommit from Oregon in two days.

2019 four-star defensive back Jeremiah Criddell decommits from Oregon: The Mater Dei High School defensive back announced he was opening up his recruiting process on Twitter on Wednesday. The 6-foot, 188-pound prospect was the highest-rated safety to commit to Oregon in program history, ranked by ESPN as nation's No. 4 athlete.

2019 four-star linebacker Jared Casey decommits from Oregon: The 6-foot-2, 225-pound outside linebacker is from Louisville, Kentucky. According to Rivals, Casey decommited from Oregon after an in-home visit with Kentucky Wildcats coaches.

What this means: Oregon’s 2019 recruiting class currently has 20 commits and dropped three spots to No. 7 in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Ducks have three 2019 defensive back commits; three-star safety Lanett Trikweze Bridges, four-star cornerback Elijah Blades and four-star cornerback Mykael Wright.

At linebacker, Oregon has two 2019 commits; Under Armour All-American Ge'Mon Eaford and four-star Mase Funa, the highest-rated linebacker commit in UO history.

Will Oregon finish with a top 10 recruiting class? Stay tuned, as college football's early signing period is three weeks away! Recruits can finalize national letters of intent from Dec. 19-21 or wait until the traditional signing day on Feb. 6.
