ProBeavs Update: Matt Moore continues to drop absolute dimes

ProBeavs Update: Matt Moore continues to drop absolute dimes

Kansas City backup QB Matt Moore is finding a way to get it done for the Chiefs without the reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes. Steven Nelson is making a good impression in his new home with the Steelers. Plenty to go around for former Oregon State Beavers in the NFL.

Here's how the ProBeavs faired in Week 9 of NFL action:

MATT MOORE - Quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs

QB Matt Moore is now 1-1 as the Chiefs’ starter with Patrick Mahomes still out with injury: a 31-24 loss to Green Bay and 26-23 win over Minnesota last Sunday. He ranked first across the league in pressured passer rating and deep passer rating, according to Pro Football Focus.

He also threw an absolute dime to Tyreek Hill for a touchdown.

Moore finished the game 25-of-35 for 275 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.

STEVEN NELSON - Defensive back, Pittsburgh Steelers

Recorded seven tackles, six solo in Pittsburgh’s 26-24 win over the visiting Indianapolis Colts last Sunday.

Nelson was traded to Pittsburgh this season after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

And apparently Nelson only needs just one shoe.

JORDAN POYER - Defensive back, Buffalo Bills

Recorded seven tackles, four solo in Buffalo’s 24-9 win over Washington.

Where are the #ProDucks, #ProBeavs and other NFL players with local connections?

Free agency and player movement have led to some familiar faces from the area finding new addresses and opportunities while some others have called it a career.

Former Oregon defensive lineman Haloti Ngata retired last week after 13 seasons and could be bound for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Former Oregon offensive lineman Max Unger also retired, and although he probably won't end up in the Hall of Fame, he should be considered the second best offensive linemen to ever come out of UO.

Offensive lineman Andy Levitre (Oregon State) was released by Atlanta. He spent most of last season on injured reserve with a torn bicep.  His career could also be over.

Finding yet another job is former UO running back Kenjon Barner, who signed as a free agent with Atlanta. Barner has played Carolina, Philadelphia, New England, then Carolina again and now the Falcons.

Former Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion is looking for a job after spending his entire career with the Los Angeles Rams. Mike Remmers (Oregon State) was released by Minnesota on Mar. 11.  Linebacker D.J. Alexander (OSU) is a free agent.

Receiver De'Anthony Thomas (Oregon), who fractured his leg during practice on Oct. 11, remains a free agent. Defensive lineman Dion Jordan, (Oregon) who was with Seatttle last season, remains a free agent.

Ndamukong Suh, the defensive tackle out of Nebraska and Grant High School, is a free agent. He spent last season with the Rams.

Week 2 NFL ProBeavs: Andy Levitre goes on IR; Cooks and Poyer making plays

Week 2 NFL ProBeavs: Andy Levitre goes on IR; Cooks and Poyer making plays

Atlanta guard Andy Levitre has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn tricep during the Falcons' win over Carolina on Sunday.

“After receiving the tests results on Andy’s injury from Sunday’s game, it has been determined that he will miss the remainder of the season with a triceps injury,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn told reporters today.

It's a tough blow for the Falcons. Levitre has been one of the most reliable offensive linemen of the past 10 years. Drafted by Buffalo in the second round in 2009, Levitre didn't miss a start for four seasons with the Bills, then to seasons for Tennessee before landing in Atlanta in 2015. With the Falcons, Levitre made every start in 2015 and 2016 before missing three games last season.

Now, he will miss 14 games in one season.

“Andy worked extremely hard to get back on the field after a similar injury last year, and there is no doubt his leadership will continue to be felt this year," Quinn said. "We have a ton of respect for Andy and what he stands for, and what he means to our team.”

      -- Brandin Cooks delivers

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Brandin Cooks had a huge game on Sunday during a 34-0 over Arizona. Cooks caught seven passes for 159 yards with a long reception of 57. In two games, Cooks has 12 receptions for 246 yards, but has yet to score a touchdown with the Rams.

      --- Jordan Poyer remains elite

Buffalo safety Jordan Poyer continues to play well on a very weak team. Poyer, during Sunday's loss at home to the Los Angeles Chargers, did his part by making seven tackles (six solo) with two for loss and recovered a fumble.

Chicago Bears RB Ryan Nall leads all rushers in preseason game

Chicago Bears running back Ryan Nall, out of Oregon State, lead all rushers with 95 yards on nine carries Thursday night during a 30-27 preseason loss at Cincinnati

Nall's long run covered 69 yards in the third quarter. Nall, an undrafted rookie free agent, broke loose along the right sideline and appeared to be gone for a touchdown before he was run down from behind by a Bengals' defensive back and dragged down at the Cincinnati 13-yard line.

Nall also caught one pass for nine yards.

Chicago's top three running backs, Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen and Benny Cunningham, did not play. Nall has virtually no chance to crack the top three on Chicago's depth chart, but he could make the team's practice squad should he perform well on special teams.

Nall carried the ball seven times for 13 yards during a loss to Baltimore last week.
