Nassir Little gives back to Florida girls AAU program

Trail Blazers

As the Portland Trail Blazers head into postseason play, one Trail Blazer forward is showing the world why now is the time more than ever to invest in youth sports, specifically girls athletics.

Nassir Little, a Florida native, who graduated from Orlando Christian Prep in Orlando before attending the University of North Carolina, has always wanted to support local youth programs.

Through his foundation, The Nassir S. Little Youth Foundation, the 21-year-old recently made a $20,000 donation to the Central Florida Elite girls travel basketball AAU program.

Little’s donation is eligible to be matched by the NBA Players Association for up to another $12,500.

With that, Little’s donation will most likely result in $32,500 in financial support for a girls basketball program that otherwise might not have been able to operate as planned during these difficult times during the COVID-19 pandemic. Little says he “is focused on trying to support girls sports as much as possible."

I believe too many people overlook girls sports.

Nassir Little told NBCSNW

The Central Florida Elite team thanked Nassir for his generous donation via Twitter.

Per the Nassir S. Little Youth Foundation website, the program “was created with the intent to inspire and support youth to continue following their dreams by furthering their artistic and athletic talents. Everyone needs help at some point when endeavoring to reach certain goals. That is where the NSLYF steps in. To be that bridge from an aspiring artisan's current place in their journey to their greatness!”

With the foundation’s goal of helping youth excel in whatever areas they choose, Little believes strongly in youth development, both on and off the court.
