Portland Trail Blazers veteran and future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony is preparing for his 18th season in the league, and his second year with Portland.
As individual workouts got underway last week, Melo said he has ‘high hopes’ for this season with the Blazers.
And now, this week, we have a new Melo.
Well, sort of.
Monday, Melo debuted an old look that brings back a lot of memories!
Yes, Braids Melo is back!
The 36-year-old took to Instagram Monday morning to once again debut his braided look.
Last season, Anthony showed that he’s still got it, averaging 15.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
And now as he and the Blazers gear up for the 2020-21 season, it looks like old Denver Nuggets Melo is ready to play.
Fans have always loved the braids and rightfully so. Melo has played some elite basketball with the classic hairstyle whether it was with the Nuggets or during his championship run at Syracuse (2002-03).
Maybe the 10-time All-Star is looking to channel his old self.
Melo rocked his new-yet-old hairdo in an individual workout at the Trail Blazers practice Facility Monday.
It’s safe to say CJ McCollum is a fan of the look.
As are many around Rip City and in the NBA world.
During Anthony’s prior braids days, he was averaging 20 to 25 points a game.
And we all remember how well ‘Skinny Melo’ played during the NBA restart, now it’s exciting to think about ‘Braids Melo’ and his return to Portland this season.
We will get our first look at Braids Melo when the Trail Blazers host the Sacramento Kings in Portland’s first exhibition game of the year Friday at 7:30p.m. PT on NBCSNW.
