If it feels like every week we are writing another story about Carmelo Anthony’s recent milestone, it’s probably because we are.

Just days after the Portland Trail Blazers forward moved up to 11th all-time on the NBA’s scoring list, Anthony has made history again.

On Friday in the Trail Blazers 125-119 win over the Dallas Mavericks, he scored his 27,000th career point to become the 11th player in NBA history to reach the prestigious milestone.

So, what’s Melo’s next landmark achievement? If he continues to average 14 points per game, he could move past Elvin Hayes for 10th all time in scoring in late April.

While in a reserve role for the first time in his career, Anthony has played a crucial part in the Trail Blazers (25-16) recent success. On Friday, Melo scored 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting, hit three of his five three-pointers, and added four rebounds for Portland.

He wasn't the only one having a career night, though. Portland head coach Terry Stotts became the eighth active NBA coach to win 500 games, and his players were there to celebrate the moment.
